The S&W M&P – now in a 2.0 configuration – is a common Glock alternative and one of the first. Base prices start at $569, and like the Glock, they are available in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP with 3.6-, 4.0-, or 4.6-inch barrels, which are comparable to the sub-compact, the Glock that compact and large. Feature-wise, they are nearly identical, and the M&P and Glock come in optics-ready configurations. Even the Performance Center M&P is a bit cheaper than the stock Glock. The selection of XD Springfield-Armory pistols is wide, with small, medium and large 9mm, .40 S & W, and .45 ACP versions. Like the Glock and M&P, they are polymer-framed, muzzle-loading pistols, and cost between $400 and $600. The Elite optic-ready XD version only pushes the price to just over $700, which is less than some of the base Glocks models. The Walther PPQ pistol, with its interchangeable backstrap, is slightly more ergonomic than the Glock, and the trigger feels very similar. It also has an ambidextrous slide lock and a reversible magazine release. Walther offers four- and five-inch barrel models. Each PPQ is similar in size and weight to comparable Glock, XD or M&P models. Suggested retail price is not much lower than Glocks but over counter price. But what really distinguishes the P320 is how the fire control unit can be switched between frames for easy conversion of slide and cartridge length. The spike-based TP9 with a polymer frame and interchangeable back straps starts at around 350 dollars. The optics-ready variant costs about the same as the basic Glock model, but also comes with a pre-installed Shield SMS2 reflex sight. The TP9 is available in several configurations including a suppression-ready version. This Turkish-made second affordable Glock alternative was the winner of rigorous trials by the Turkish military where it competed against pistols shipped from Austria, Germany, Belgium and the United States. It has an extremely low barrel axis, interchangeable rear straps and grip side plates. It also comes with or without a thumb guard. The SAR9 is available in one size and is kind of a direct challenge to the Glock 17, which is a bit lighter. Whenever a pistol caliber carbine, or a pistol caliber, comes out, the reaction is so predictable it's almost a joke: "Yeah, but does it need a Glock magazine?" I totally get it. Glock mags are cheap, they are everywhere, and they work. Very good combination there. While I've never owned a Glock (something about that grip angle), the benefits of a product with Glock magazines are obvious. No one likes expensive proprietary magazines. As a Walther fan, I could preach about that for a while. Mag cost is a real concern for many of us when choosing a firearm and will likely affect the sales numbers of any given gun.

The Stribog is one of the more affordable weapons in its class, this move makes a lot of sense. People who want such a weapon, but are undecided about the price of a mag, now have one more reason, and one less road, to say "yes" to a Stribog. In particular, we are talking about the new Stribog SP9A3G, which unequivocally answers the eternal question posed above.
So what could be more natural than the GunMag Warehouse gang testing the new Stribog with Glock mags, originals and a few aftermarket offerings? Jeremy, our experiment host, is quick to point out that this is "Not a super scientific test," but it does give us an idea of what to expect. The same ammo is used for each mag to limit variables. It's a quick, one-day thing, so it's not a final decision on guns or magazines.
The testers looked for two main things: would the mag sit on the closed bolt and would it lock open in the empty mag? Of course, whether the mag feeds properly during operation also counts. The Stribog SP9A3G is compatible with DOUBLE STACK magazines.
All magazines fed well during the test except the round drum of KCI Polymer 50. It would not work after the first round until several rounds were removed before repeating the test, then fed well. Jeremy thought of this as a new magazine with a stiff spring. You make your own calls on that one. Also, the SGM's Tactical mag is beefed up a bit by the bolt. Whether that is a problem with the SGM mag or the rifle is unknown. Maybe it can happen to others too. Again, that's unknown, especially given the limited nature of the test.
